The Chase got its name from Salmon P. Chase—a former governor, senator, and chief justice of the United States who began his career in Cincinnati at the intersection of Third & Main Street. As Secretary, Chase was instrumental in establishing a national banking system and is still featured on the US $10,000 bill.
